We are looking for motivated individuals to fill a position mainly to work on a three year Department of Energy funded project. The individual will participate in and conduct original research related to development of a novel carbon dioxide capture technology.

Job Description for PhD Engineer

Responsibilities


Include, but not limited to, participates in and conducts original research related to absorption- based CO2 capture technologies. Participates in the design, assembly, operation, and maintenance of lab-scale test facilities. Documents, interprets, and analyzes experimental data. Develops and pursues externally-funded research projects in the areas of innovative energy and environmental technologies. Prepares proposals, writes technical reports, presentations, and journal manuscripts. Participates in presentations and meetings. Supervises and trains project assistants.

Qualifications


Required: Ph.D. in chemical/environmental engineering or related disciplines. Knowledge or research experience in separation/purification processes, energy technology, or energy-related air pollutant control technologies. Ability to develop new research projects in energy and environmental related areas and write proposals. Ability to design, assemble, operate and maintenance bench-scale equipment. Ability to operate common gas/liquid analytical instruments. Good oral and written communication skills to present and publish scientific research results and interact effectively with others. Good organizational skills. Ability to train and supervise the work of project assistants.

Preferred: More than three years of academic or industrial experience in energy and environmental related areas after the completion of the Ph.D. program. Knowledge or research experience in CO2 capture and sequestration technologies. Experience in writing proposals and ability to gain external funding in energy and environmental related areas. Established scientific research and publication records.

Job Description for Internship


We are seeking motivated senior students to fill multiple intern positions to assistant senior engineers to work on a Department of Energy funded project. The individual will participate in and conduct daily experiments to help senior engineers.

Responsibilities


Include, but not limited to, participates in and conducts daily experiments related to an absorption-based CO2 capture technology. Participates in assembly, operation, and maintenance of labscale test facilities. Documents and presents experimental results, writes lab reports, help to prepare presentations.

Requirements


Required: Junior or senior students in chemical/environmental engineering department or related disciplines. Knowledge or experience of unit operations in chemical engineering, or energy-related air pollutant control technologies. Ability to operate common gas/liquid analytical instruments. Good oral and written communication and interact effectively with others. Good organizational skills. Good team working spirit.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in chemical/environmental engineer, exposure to absorption based CO2 capture technologies, used CHEMCAD, ASPEN Plus or other chemical process simulation software.
